For those further afield, check out the #GreatCanalJourneys hashtag on Twitter - at one point during the show airing, that hashtag was even 'trending' - a sure sign, apparently, of its popularity. You'll get a feel for the grace of the waterways and a warmth for the love of an adoring couple as they explore - self-driving their way from lock to lock, town to town, including the spectacle of the Arzviller boat lift. What's more, if ever you thought self-drive hire boating would be tricky, this is perfect proof that it's not. We also loved the fact that they cruised in north-eastern France, Lorraine and Alsace, one of the lesser known boating regions. The countryside gems to spot, taste and devour along the way are absolutely worth exploring - and Tim and Pru certainly enjoyed the wine! Naturally, we're talking self-drive hire boating today.
